1. December and January are the holiday season; most companies are on
vacation. Few companies are interviewing new employees.
2. Most companies are laying off people during covid-19, job opportunities
are even rare.
3. Typically, to get a job offer takes a long time: hr screen, phone
interview, onsite interview, background check, h1b-transfer, easily exceed 1
or more months. And at the same time, people are working from home, this
process takes even longer.
I actually got a job offer in March, but that time is beyond the H1B grace
period (2 months from termination), and the company refuses to do an H1B
transfer for me, which leads to an even longer gap.
4. I am legal to stay since I have already submitted an i485 application
before losing my job in December. I also received a 765 EAD card recently.
The receipt can be sent together with other documents to USCIS
5. If H1B is activated outside the US, health concerns will arise because of
moving in/out of the US. | c**l
