TITLE: Tuning the electrical, mechanical, and optical properties of MWCNTs-
polymer composites with plasticizer and conducting spacer at the interface
ABSTRACT: Optically transparent, electrically conductive, and mechanically
flexible acryl amide films are produced by in-situ polymerisation technique.
The addition of plasticizer enhances the flexibility of the composite film
depending on the concentration of glycerol in the slurry. The multiwall
carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) content is varied during the preparation of the
composite films. The light transmittance and electrical conductivity of the
composite films are characterized. Results show that composites containing
MWCNTs with a 0.06 mg/ml premix solution exhibit enhanced electrical
conductivity and required optical transmitivity. Further addition of
conducting polymers poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate)
(PEDOT:PSS) enhances the electrical conductivity by two to five orders of
magnitude. The structural characterization, mechanical properties,
electrical properties and the interaction of MWCNTs at the interface of
polymer matrix is discussed in detail. The outcome of this study provided a
new way for design, optimization and fabrications of CNTs-polymer composite.
