Applicant’s Statement and Explanation:
Back in 20xx, when I was 23 years old, the xxx University in xxx, China
recommended me for the Communist Party (CP) Membership because I was one of
the best students in my class (I ranked top xx in a xxx people class). At
that time, CP membership was considered a reward by school for good academic
performance, as well as for helping other students. Most of the students
in my school were CP members, and it also would be a big help for job
hunting after graduation. It was with the hope for a better job, that I
accepted the recommendation and joined the CP in 20xx.
I have never been an active member of the CP, never worked on any committee
and never attended any meetings. In fact, I have just barely maintained the
membership. Since August 20xx I have stopped paying the CP membership dues,
neither have I attended any CP activities. According to CP’s rules and
regulations, any member who fails to pay the membership fee in 6 consecutive
months is regarded as having given up membership. Therefore, I am not a CP
member now and was not a member in the past over 5 years
As my membership terminated at least 2 years before my I-485 application,
and I am not a threat to U.S. security, I am not inadmissible under section
212 INA § 212 (a)(3)(D).
