Dear Professor "Big Shot",
My name is Codename47. I am currently a research associate at the
University of "Just So So" in USA. I am writing this letter to inquire about
the
possibility of receiving a supportive letter toward my US Green card
application from you.
My research has been focused on "how to become a big shot". I notice that
you have published a very interesting review paper in 2011 at Journal Times
with the title "how to be a big shot", from which I have learned a lot. It
is also
my pleasure to notice that you cited one of my papers XXX. I would like to
express again my appreciation for the great paper and for
citing our work.
Recently I am applying for my US green card through the category of alien
with extraordinary ability, for which I should demonstrate the significance
of my work evaluated from independent, international, and prominent
scientists like you. Your work and innovation in the field of "money making"
has
made you a prominent figure in the field, and your recent citation of one
of my papers indicates you are also familiar with my work. I wonder if it is
possible to get a recommendation letter(for immigration purpose only) from
you as an independent reference toward my application of permanent residency
in the US.
If yes, I will draft the reference letter, which will contain brief
introduction of your background and research interests, and some discussion
of my work. I will send you the draft, and you are welcome to write or
modify what you feel comfortable based on the draft, sign it electronically
and send it back to me (or sign, scan, and mail, I will cover the postage).
