2. About DOS visa office, if you have any visa questions or J waiver
questions, call visa office.
DOS visa office inquire number is 1-202-663-1541, then dial 0, then wait.
This number is open for public every business day 8:30-16:30 US eastern time.
3. How to inquire your I-612 case number to USCIS Vermont Service Center (
VSC)
按照板上的电话，直接打8003755283，然后按1，2，6（lost reciept number），说明
我的情况，接线人说是不是military, 我说不是，I-612, 然后VSC，结果就转到
National custom service center, 直接问姓名，日期等，然后查询。结果没有，然后
就问infopass。
4. If you need Infopass, go to below website to make an appointment
http://infopass.uscis.gov/
Then bring your passport, all documents and appointment letter showing PIN
go to USCIS local office.
5. If your J waiver case experienced long term, you can call USCIS to do SR
USCIS SR Steps:
1. Call 1-800-375-5283
2. Press 1 for English
3. Press 2 for pending case
4. Press 1 for checking status of pending case
5. Input case # (WAC, LIN, SRC, etc)
6. Press 1 for confirmation
7. Press 3 to continue (report a problem)
8. Press 3 outside processing time + 1 did not hear response
9. You will be directed to Level 1 customer support – tell them your case
is outside of processing time and you want to file a Service Request, then
they will do it.
You will get a confirmation number after calling.
You will receive a response letter or email from USCIS VSC in 3 weeks (the
home address and email address as you provided on DS-3035 form).Probably
your case will be approved that time.
6. If SR is not working, you need to get help from Congressman or Senator's
office.

通常大家所谓的找议员，个人理解是找美国联邦的参议员（Senators）和（或）众议员
（Representatives）。众所周知，即便是咱们这些在美国的外国人，有很多事情都可
以通过找议员而得到更快和更合理的解决。因此，大家应该充分利用这一有利的条件，
遇有相关事宜时可在适当的时候寻找他或她们帮助，以达到自己的目的。鉴于近日来不
时有朋友询问找议员的相关事宜，狐狸俺现将相关信息小结如下，以供大家参考！不妥
之处敬请知情者更正、补充（谢谢）。
一、寻找途径
狐狸认为寻找议员们的最佳途径是借助于网络，以下分别是寻找参议员和政议员的
连接，点击后你就可以轻易地找到你所想找的议员们及其他或她们各自的主页。在议员
们的个人主页上你可发现很多有用的信息，如联系方式与办法，他们能够协助解决的问
题及其解决这些问题所需要的信息与材料，还有该议员名下的办公室所在地及其各个办
公室的工作人员等。

二、联系方式
你可以通过电话、电子邮件或是信函、传真等与议员办公室联系。如果你英语水平好的
话，狐狸建议你用电话联系，因为这是最快捷和最省事的联系方式，由于议员办公室的
工作人员都很友好，故你无需有任何担心。如若你的英语水平一般或是口语不佳，你可
用邮件或信函或传真等方式联系，这些方式通常较慢，由于各议员办公室平时需要处理
的信件颇多，故难免延误时间。当然，如若你的英语水平不佳，你也可以请同事或是朋
友帮助你联系。与议员办公室取得联系后，他的工作人员会根据你的具体要求告诉你下
一步如何办？如你是要求该议员帮助你查询绿卡审批情况，他们会告诉你先填妥相关表
格（类似于国内的授权书），然后再寄送或传真至他们的办公室，以便他们能够代表你
与移民打交道。
三、注意事项
１、通常应找你所在州的国会议员帮忙，而不是找你所在州的州议员或其它州的国
会议员帮助。这是因为州议员通常影响力有限，其它州的议员则无法代表你行事，毕竟
他们不能够代表你或者说你不在他的管辖范围内！
２、材料或相关表格一旦送出后，在适当的时候应该核实，即通过电话或是其它方
式确认该议员的办公室是否收到你的材料或其它？必要时宜补送！
３、求议员办事需要有耐心或是提前量，这是因为议员办公室大多较忙，加之政府
与政府部门打交道不可能没有延误，故大家一定要有耐心和提前量，以免失礼或误事！
４、寄送给议员办公室的相关信息必须准确无误，特别是Ａ＃和Receipt ＃，及姓
名与通信地址等。
５、在与议员办公室工作人员交往的过程中请注意礼节礼貌！

Recently I inquired USCIS at Vermont and was told that our applications are
still pending due to background check. The process has been over 2 years and
4 months in total and now everything else is ready except the FBI name
check. The delay will adversely affect US interest for the reasons of: 1. I

unable to apply for several grants that require permanent resident status;
2. The delay might indirectly assist other real dangerous people since they
might take the advantage of lengthy delay to lawfully stay here.

1. Look into our cases at USCIS VSC, and have the immigration officers
confirm the security check requests have actually been sent to the proper
agencies and when;
2. Look into the corresponding agencies and have them to explain to you what
exactly bogged down our cases;
3. Urge the corresponding agencies to expedite (or rather, not to further
delay) finishing our security checks;
4. Urge the corresponding agencies to expedite sending the security check
results back to the USCIS VSC;
5. Urge the immigration officer at USCIS VSC to expedite adjudicating our
cases.

Dear Mrs. Obama,
First, I want to congratulate you and Mr. Obama for being the first African
American family to become the executive residents of the White House in the
history of the United States of America. President Obama’s success has
demonstrated to every immigrant in this land that America is a place where
all things are possible.
However, there are always roadblocks for us, immigrants to the U.S., to
achieve our American dreams. I’m writing to request your kind assistance
to expedite the adjudication of our green card applications, which have been
delayed for an unreasonably long period of time by the USCIS.
I came to US in 2001 from China to pursue my XX degree at XX University.
After graduation in 2003, I have been working as a XX at the US headquarter
of XX corp. in XX city.
My company, XX, initiated the green card petition for me in December 2004.
My wife and I submitted our I-485 applications on March 23rd, 2007 to
Nebraska Service Center, USCIS. Our green card applications are classified
as China Mainland-born EB-2, i.e. Employment-Based 2nd Preference, and have
a priority date of 12/20/2004.
Since we submitted our I-485 applications, there have been 10 occurrences
when visa were available for China Mainland-born EB-2 applicants with a
priority date of 12/20/2004 according to the visa bulletins published by U.S
Department of State. Here below is a summary of the historical visa
bulletin data gathered from the website of U.S. Department of State.

For unknown reasons, our applications were left behind in these ten
occurrences (shaded dates on the table above except for the upcoming
February 2009 visa bulletin). During these periods, many China Mainland-
born EB-2 cases with priority date much later than ours were approved.
The latest published February 2009 visa bulletin shows that visas have
become available for China Mainland-born EB-2 applicants with priority date
of January 1st, 2005 or earlier. This means that our applications are
eligible for immediate adjudication. Under this circumstance, I sincerely
hope that you can urge USCIS to adjudicate our cases without any further
delays, so that we won’t be left behind for the eleventh time in the road.
The delay of green card approval has caused us a lot of inconvenience and
severely impacted our lives in a negative way. We have been tax payers for
seven years, and have worked hard every day to make our contributions to
this country. I sincerely hope that our green card application can be
treated fairly.

7. I-797未受到或者遗失咋办？
如果你从USCIS website 得知你的J waiver case已经批准30天，未收到I-797,马上到
USCIS local office 去Infopass, 要求USCIS马上重新寄一份copy.如果过了一定时间
没有找USCIS 查询，只能file I-824, 并且支付$405.00, 要求USCIS重新寄一份copy,
这种情况属于本人丢失。如果你遗失I-797，只能file I-824, 并且支付$405.00, 要求
USCIS重新寄一份copy | e******r
