Cyanobacterial blooms sometimes happen in large in number freshwater and
brackish natural and reservoirs around the world. A number of different
species produce toxins of several different types. The most common toxins
produced fall into two main classes: neurotoxins and hepatotoxins.
Methods: Mouse and Daphnia magna bioassays were performed on samples during
months in which cyanobacteria dominated. Cyanobacteria were grown for twenty
days in their specific culture ASN-III medium...
Results: Results revealed that three of genuses Lyngbya sp, and
Oscillatorias sp2 were identified as toxic algae. LD50 level with intra
peritoneal was 250mg/ml and 525mg/kg. Bioassey method on daphnia has been
shown 1/5mg/ml and 1/7 mg/ml LC50 respectively... |
