也不知道流行于我们这个版的推荐信格式，是因为大家相信而流行，还是因为是移民局
要求的（就是对推荐人进行详细介绍）。
按我的想法，主要是说和被推荐人的关系，对被推荐人的评价。至于推荐人本人，说一
下单位和联系电话就可以了。比如，康奈尔副教授，不用说别的，移民官应该大致就能
知道其实力。

Please don't go to the other extreme.
I still have a long paragraph to describe each reference in the RLs. It
is needed to describe their credentials to present them as experts to
evaluate us and our work. "A Cornell AP" alone may not be convincing
enough.
By toning down, I mean that when some references have thousands of
citations, I don't list those numbers, but to mention that they have
many, etc.
Also, when I got a letter from a company, the guy did not have a Ph.D.
degree, then I didn't mention his degree, but just to say how many
years' experience he had, how broadly distributed their clients were,
etc.
You get my point, it's similar to how to present your own case. The
purpose to describe your references is to present them as experienced,
and similarly or only slightly more experienced than you.
