"The Federal Register, the government publication that
records such decisions, shows that 502 expatriates gave up
their U.S. citizenship or permanent residency status in
the last quarter of 2009."
So you can 'renounce' your green card. How do you
do that? Doesn't it expire in 5 years? |

. It only means you cannot use your expired card getting through US customs,
but you are still holding US PR status.
I don't know how you revoke your own PR status, but I'm sure you can google
it out.

Interesting. President Ma Ying-Jeou told the press he was
no longer a PR of the US because his green card had expired.
Did he also renounced his PR status?

But if you want to renounce it, just leave US for more than 6 months and do
not notify USCIS beforehand. You'll lose your PR status automatically.

You may get a nonimmigrant visa only if you hide the fact that you were(or
in US consulate's viewpoint, still is) a PR. If you declare that you were
a PR and apply for a US nonimmigrant visa, the consulate will first ask you
either file SB1 or I-407.
do
