Hi, I am building my first new system. After I connected all the components
and cables and powered up, the fans (PSU Fan, System Fans and CPU fan) ran
for 3 seconds and stop. Is it because of bad PSU or bad MB or assembly error
? Appreciate any inputs.
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quard (Q9450)
Memory: Corsair XMS2 4G
Computer Case: Cooler Master Centurion 5
MB: GIGABYTE GA-EG41M-US2H
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Black WD6401AALS 640GB
PSU: CORSAIR CMPSU-400CX 400W

The problem is that I can't even get to BIOS yet. The light on my usb mouse
is on, which indicates power did go through MB, but for some reason, the
system just can't get powered up

I tried replacing a new PSU, resetting the CMOS by resetting a jumper on the
motherboard, all failed.
Eventually, under the suggestion of my friend, it was solved by physically
remove the power from the computer (disconnecting the power plug), then
removing the CMOS battery from the motherboard for 10 minutes and putting it
back.

Thanks, I will try it today and keep my fingers crossed. Is there anything I
need to pay attention when i remove and put back the CMOS battery?

it is 4 pin connector, and I did have it plugged. thankx

when I unscrewed that particular one, everything worked like a charm. thanks
