我反正是早想好了，做工程师，搞hi-tech研发。虽然听说
silicon valley的人一个个都只能睡3个小时/day，我还是
准备去试试。不求当比尔盖子，能养活一个温暖的家就够了。 | P*****s

Do you know that when I lecture to Xin Dong Fang, I tell them that three
kinds of professors are most likely to admit students: 1. Chinese, 2.Assistant
3.Female. Because usually if a prof belongs to one kind, he/she works much
harder, and want to get students work for him/her. You get the 3 conditions,

发帖数: 375 | 4 哎，我来米国之前还琢磨是不是转回EE呢，现在，发现做什么的人
都太多了，从高能物理到CSEE，到处都是天才，到处都是中国人，
到处都难有我施展的机会。做什么都得先看上一大堆故纸，然后
费老了劲想出个idea要么被别人否了要么别人已经做过了。总之
是灰心伤气前途渺茫哪。还是研究冷门的东西，容易做权威。
也许哪天我会去研究印第安那史，Lesbian文化研究或者26维超弦
之类的东西，问题是现在就连研究这种东西的人都已经是一堆一
堆的了。反正做研究得看长老的脸色办事。挣钱就更麻烦了，做
研究最多是没有funding下岗吧，自己开公司可就不定哪天家破人
亡了。有自由的工作太累，没自由的工作太苦，这世道....真是
恨自己不是mm，要不早去卖卖自己得了。还是享受容易，哎。

Hehe, some other chinese students are also saying now
"Never choose Steve Chu as boss", hehe..
I was surprised that post-docs in Chu's group work day in
and day out, seem that the time except sleeping is all
used for research, yet they looked to be happy, I feel
admired. It was last night that I at last hear a post-doc
murmuring to himself "I'm working too hard..." | P*****s

works in our group. He just stays in a room, uses not-modern equipments
because he cannot have enough funding, and enjoys himself with research
topics found by himself. Yes, he is still paid by tenure, butit doesn't
differ whether he still researches or not. But he works very hard,
sometimes I see him at 2am, think he is at least 75 years old! And several
