发帖数: 382 | 1 Yesterday I was on the range with strong head wind (20~25mph estimated). I
used this opportunity to test different shots and I'd like to share my
findings.
In a clam day, my full high shot is about 10 yard longer than my knock down
low shot. I had a misunderstanding that with some head wind, the full high
shot still works and just maybe shorter. I was wrong at least when there is
a strong head wind.
Yesterday, when I hit full shot that means high launch with more backspin,
the ball climbed against the wind very high and then drop like a stone. For
example, my normal 7 iron was 60 yard shorter in average without consistency
; this will not work on course!
On the other hand, my knock-down low shots provided good distance and
consistency and 40 yard longer than the full shot against wind.
I tested wedges, irons, hybrids and woods, I had the same observation.
In summary, practice the knockdown shots. You need those in a windy day. BTW
, Seattle is not a windy city at all, I never paid attention to the big
difference between those shots. | g******s
发帖数: 211 | 2 oh ya, wind definately count. This reminds me once i played a hole with a
strong left-to-right wind. Left is ocean and right the hazard. If I hit it
along the fairway, it will for sure blow away to the right side hazard. So
instead i aimed like 45 degree to the left of the fairway. And see the ball
directly head to the ocean, then make a wild curve and landed on the fairway
softly. Did not get much distance, but happy to see the ball flight as
expected.

the knock down short is very useful in windy conditions, and it's something
need to be practiced all the time.
i like to work the low shots right to left (hook or draw), but always have a
tough time to keep it low when i need to work the ball left to right. for
me that's the hardest shot, half of the time i end up with a higher
tragectory when working balls left to right.

of tree line. today used tried several knockdown low shots. i haven't
practized this kind of shot much yet, but just the idea of knockdown shot
and use kind of slow speed rehearse, already got some decent results.

right and de-loft the club. Not sure if that count as a knockdown.

shot. For a tail wind driving, I launch the ball slightly high and let it
float in the air as long as possible. 40 yards driving difference between
the head and tail on wind is nothing to me. I ever drove the ball 180 yards
against wind and 350 yards with a following wind in a round.

发帖数: 382 | 8 when you do a cut shot, it's normal to go high because you need to open the
club face and need to hold it open during the shot.
I never know and practice how to do a low cut shot.

发帖数: 382 | 9 yes, I will do the same thing, low stinger 3 wood to keep it under the wind.
I can do a stinger 3 wood with good success rate, but I can not do that with
driver, or I should say not with a good results. Any suggestion on low
driver shoot?
