Mtach play is used as well as the stroke play. The results from the stroke
play will be used in pairing in next game. In match play, players tend to
play agressively, which is not good to lower your handicap. | ET

say, for a given hole, team #1/#4 wins over team #2/#3, #2 gives 100 to #1,
#3 gives 100 to #4, then re-assign #1,#2,#3,#4, and re-group for next hole.

but i think 1 yuan a hole doesnt work in china, you just cant find that many
1 yuan bill around. And in china, no one used to write down the scores and
calculate who wins what at the end.
ppl there just prefer to make deal in cold hard cash right after each hole,
which give you a tons of incentive to play well.
the first 3 holes i played in china was not well, but after every hole, i
was handed a 100 yuan bill just because I was at the right time at the right
team.
another thing also noticable is that the birdie got double reward, namely,
you need pay extra 100 yuan if it was a birdie. I was told eagle would be
double again, but didnt experience an eagle from anyone.

say, if you have a fair coin, you flip it, you would have 50-50 chance of
head and tail.
in golf, making a birdie is much harder than making a par, the odd is very
small, just like when eagle, players tend to buy drinks to other players.
as you said, it is exactly as 麻将翻番, it is all about the odds.
