1. Divide US into east and west according to NBA conference. For those live
in the states without NBA team, we can assign them to east or west based on
location.
2. For each team, we can organize some small tournaments in each state or
each city or each area. We pick different golf courses with similar slope or
rating. Every participated members play two rounds on one of those selected
courses. Then top 10 players will be in the team. and 2 more team members

the 1st thought is.. just let the first mitbbs/golf gathering happen.
schedule the activity, call the players. after players signed up, divide
them into teams, and have some fun, and some competition.
we can ask mitbbs promote the activity at the main page of mitbbs.com..if
possible, we ask some nationwide chinese newspaper reporting this one.
So we could have attract more people.
as far as the format is concerned, all r dicussable..

I agree the best is to make it a fun gathering event.
as for format, my thoughts was to play couple or several runs, and first run
or first two runs scores would be taken into consideration for forming team
, and pairing will be formed according those pre-cut runs as well.
And everyone got play at last run or last two runs ( if time permits), and
ryder cup score/point would be counted (we can decide later about how many
players score would
