Crystal Lake South High School Chinese Club, in Illiinois, launched its fir
st event of the semester with an introduction to go (weiqi) by Chicago teac
her and weiqi enthusiast Simon Xinming Guo, on Sept. 22nd. Guo came at the
invitation of Ms. Lin Hsieh, the Chinese language teacher at the school. M
s. Hsieh hopes to use Weiqi to help her students to understand Chinese cultu
re and to learn strategic thinking. Altogether, about 110 students from Cr
ystal Lake South and Cary-Grove High school learned about weiqi in their Chi
