Tier 2 = Hotchkiss H35
Tier 3 = AMX38
Tier 4 = AMX40
Tier 5 = AMX 12t
Tier 6 = AMX 13 75
Tier 7 = AMX 13 90
Tier 8 = Lorraine 40t
Tier 9 = Bat Chatillon 25t
EDIT - the bare minimum XP cost to grind from Tier 1 to the Bat Chatillon is
461,122 XP points (as of Test 1). Realistically, 500k-600k if you start
unlocking some of the optional modules.
Branch 2 (heavies):
Tier 2 = D1
Tier 3 = D2
Tier 4 = B1
Tier 5 = BDR G1B
Tier 6 = ARL 44
Tier 7 = AMX M4(1945)
Tier 8 = AMX 50 100
Tier 9 = AMX 50 120
Tier 10 = AMX 50B
EDIT - the bare minimum XP cost to grind from Tier 1 to the AMX 50B is 738,
532 XP points (as of Test 1). Probably more like 800k-900k if you bother
unlocking some of the optional modules.
Note that a few tanks were rearranged (e.g. Lorraine 40t is now Tier 8,
while Bat Chatillon was moved to Tier 9).
Details of selected tanks. Note that all test values are subject to change.
I'm also going to start with "the most important ones" in my view (but will
take requests). Note - I have not had time to drive any of these things yet,
I'm just reading my tech tree/hangar stats.
Tier 5 heavy - BDR G1B (a.k.a. KV and T1 competitor):
- Funky-looking. Like someone tried to mate a Tiger with a B1.
- Pretty thin armor. Hull maxes out at 70mm, turret at 80mm.
- Stock gun looks awful. "Middle" gun is like a poor man's M1A1. Top gun is
a 90mm Death Stick (pen 137, 240 alpha, rate of fire 8, accuracy 0.35).
- Max speed capped at 30, but decent power-to-weight (just under 15 with the
top engine).
A moving barn with not-great armor but an interesting gun. Ok, this should
be interesting.
Tier 7 heavy - AMX M4(1945) (a.k.a. Tiger and T29 competitor):
- Ok, it's a Tiger with a Russian great-grandmother, i.e. some mild amount
of sloping.
- Armor 90/40/40 hull and 80/45/45 turret which eventually becomes 100/70/40
. Not impressed by the HP either, but this may be a temporary "test value".
- Stock gun is the 90mm 137 pen 240 alpha weapon, but the other guns (except
for the top 90mm) can be unlocked on the Tier 6 (it looks like), so you'd
only need to grind the tracks and turret. You can immediately mount the "
middle" 90mm (165 pen 240 alpha) without grinding anything, provided you'd
unlocked it at Tier 6.
- Top gun is pen 236, alpha 240, rate of fire 7.06-10.00 (not sure which),
accuracy 0.31-0.33. There is also a 300 alpha 170mm 0.36 accuracy gun for
both Tiers 6 and 7 that can be unlocked "on the side".
- Same pattern - 35 kph top speed but "ok" power-to-weight (so I'm guessing
a T29 clone in terms of maneuverability, at least in top configuration).
- View range 410 on the top turret (Tiger is at 420 if I recall correctly).
So, umm...Tiger I in terms of armor (90mm slightly sloped should about equal
100mm vertical), and either a rapid-firing low-alpha high-pen weapon or an
accurate ZiS-6M equivalent. This should be interesting. Also, I believe
French heavies don't get the auto-loader until Tier 8 (so this one should
still fire normally).
Tier 8 heavy - AMX 50 100:
- Hull 90/35/30, turret 90/30/30. Oh hell. Good view range though (440).
Only one turret option.
- Should be able to immediately mount the top Tier 7 gun (pen 236 alpha 240)
. Top gun (100mm) is pen 220, alpha 300, accuracy 0.31, ROF 6.21 per minute
(I think this takes the drum loading cycle into account).
- Top speed 51 kph, top power-to-weight over 16 (top mediums are in the 18-
20 range, if memory serves). Interesting choice of guns...especially since
you do not need to unlock the 100mm to get to Tier 9.
It's a Panther that can drop a Tier 8 heavy in 15 seconds. Cool.
Tier 9 heavy - AMX 50 120:
- Much bigger looking than the AMX 50 100. Nose shaped like that of an old
locomotive. Armor 100/80/60 everywhere. Sloped in the front, too.
- Top speed 65 kph, still at 16+ power to weight.
- Can mount the Tier 8 100mm immediately. Top gun is a 120mm - pen 280 (!),
alpha 400 (!!), accuracy 0.30 (!!!). This is basically the Tier 10 gun (auto
-loader with 4 rounds, 2.5 seconds between shots then 25-30 seconds to
reload the drum, or maybe more at Tier 9, so per-minute rate of fire is
listed at 5.58).
- View is 460. Hmm.
Daddy like. This is the rabid make-out session at the movie theater after
having to put up with two hours of her prattling on about her job/
girlfriends/wardrobe/shoes/etc.
Tier 10 heavy - AMX 50B:
- Looks like the AMX 50 120. Hull is 230/30/30, turret is 100/50/30. Uh-huh.
That's 230mm sloped at something like 50+ degrees, by the way (hint - shoot
the huge turret!!).
- Same top gun as on the AMX 50 120, but probably decreased reload cycle (
ROF 6.15 per minute).
- View range 460.
- Max speed 65 kph, but power-to-weight is at about 20.
This is like a T-54 in reverse (paper turret, hard as hell front hull).
Paper sides concern me (two Tier 9 mediums will take it apart) - and notice,
the AMX 50 120 can at least withstand HE shells from Tier 5-6 enemies (
whereas the AMX 50B will most definitely not). The auto-loader also means
less crew (i.e. no human loaders), so it will theoretically be possible to
crit this thing to death.
I think the AMX 50 120 will be a lot easier to get used to - but highly
skilled players will have a blast.
Tier 6 light - AMX 13 75 (a Tier 6 light!!):
- Don't ask me about armor. Just don't. Yeah, it's technically sloped. And I
still envision people using HE rounds against this thing all the time.
- Top speed 61 kph, top power-to-weight at about 21 (!).
- View range 440. 'Nuff said.
- Starts with a 110/110 gun, progresses to the exact clone of the German 7.
5cm L70 (138 pen, 135 alpha) but with 0.31 accuracy and ROF 15 per minute.
You know what? Speed might be its second-most interesting characteristic;
the view range is very interesting (passive scouting, the "victory lap" on
maps like Malinovka, etc.). And the gun ain't half-bad, though I'm not sure
people will have much of a chance to use it.
Tier 7 light - AMX 13 90 (because no-one knew what a Tier 7 light was like..
.until now!):
- Yeah. Same armor as the other AMX 13. Making sure that no-one on the crew
sneezes while the tank is in operation will be a priority.
- Top speed is 64 kph, power-to-weight is still at 21+ (depending on what
modules you mount, I guess).
- View range is 460. I'm sensing a pattern.
- Top gun is pen 165, alpha 240. So better than an 8.8cm L56, but will this
thing live long enough to use it? At least accuracy is 0.33-0.34, so "wheeee
!" type death rides are theoretically possible.
I'm not a light tank specialist (having focused mostly on mediums and
heavies thus far) - in good hands, this should be a very fun tank to play,
because armor doesn't matter for, say, a VK3002DB when it's facing down a
bunch of Tier 8+ opponents (unless, of course, those opponents start using
HE rounds...which the AMX 13 series seems to be chronically allergic to). In
bad hands, of course...
Tier 8 medium - Lorraine 40t (demoted from Tier 9):
- It weighs just under 40 tons and should have a power-to-weight approaching
25 in its top configuration (stock engine is around 12 though - stock-to-
top engine grind takes 84,100 XP...). Top speed is 60 kph. Let me remind you
people that the Pershing-Patton line tops out at somewhere around 20.
- Armor is 40/40/25 hull and 45/30/20 turret. Sloped, of course. But still
impressive in all the wrong sense of the word.
- Stock gun is pen 165 alpha 240 (unlocked on the AMX 13 90). Eventually
upgrades to the AMX 50 100 100mm gun (300 alpha, 220 pen), but has the
option not to unlock it and to stick with the 90mm 236 pen 240 alpha (which
must be unlocked to progress to the Bat Chatillon).
- View range is 460. Naturally.
So it's like an AMX 50 100 with no armor (ok, maybe a little), same
interesting choice of guns (low alpha high pen, or high alpha lower-but-
respectable pen?), better speed and maneuverability. I'm guessing that if
you've played American mediums, you'll love both (and choose based on
whether you prefer more speed or slightly better survivability against lower
tiers).
Tier 9 medium - Bat Chatillon 25t (promoted from Tier 8):
- Looks...weird. As if an AMX 13 had managed to sneak up on and mate with a
sleeping Ferdinand.
- Hull armor 60/40/30, turret at 50/30/15. Not great, but not nothing, might
be effective 100mm in the front depending on the slope, so will help
against at least some of the lower tiers.
- Max speed 65 kph. Power-to-weight approaching 30 in top configuration (
rough numbers). Not quite T-50-2-esque, but getting there.
- Guns are exactly the same as on the Lorraine 40t. Probably bumped the rate
of fire a bit, so that the 100mm tops out at 9.23 per minute (implying a 35
-38 second reload cycle vs. 40-45 seconds at the lower tiers).
- View range 480.
I believe the first 10 battles anyone has on this tank will go something
like: "Vive la Fra-a-a-a-a-a-aaaaaaaaaance...Dakka-Dakka-Dakka...BOOM."
After which point, people will figure out that this thing looks very small,
is ridiculously maneuverable, has a great gun (or selection of guns - again,
you can choose alpha or pen but not both), and possesses a fantastic view
range. Can't take a punch, of course (though we'll see where they set the HP
).
-----
Verdict so far - I suspect some of the lower tiers will be...less than
exciting. Some of the middle tiers look like they'll have a pretty high
learning curve (the AMX 13 75, so far). But the high tiers look great, if
still somewhat unforgiving. I would also guess that these tanks will prove
among the most polarizing (either "this thing sucks utterly" or "this thing
is the greatest ever", with no middle ground to be found anywhere on the
forums), the mediums in particular. |
