well, this cannot be the first complaining thread for Object 261, and it won
't be the last until the settings of Object 261 is changed.
the unreasonable settings of Obj. 261 makes it less useful than GW Tiger and
M40/M43, not even mention GW Typ E and T92. I would say Obj. 261 in clan
battle is probably better than M12, at most in par with GW panther and less
useful than SU-14 and S-51.
1. Yes, the accuracy is uber nice in numbers, however, it requires the
entire map diagonal to make the aiming circle round. In most maps, the
aiming circle is an extremely thin elliptic in the middle of map where most
heavy engagement happens. Therefore the accuracy sucks in practice. This is
a consequence of problem no. 2, stated in the following.
2. its trajectory is simply too flat to be useful as an arty. for example,
it cannot support the fight in A3 in El Halluf from southeast or north east
corner which all the rest arties can do. And in Westfield, even the low
walls between the houses in the middle of the map can effectively block
Object 261's shoots from base. This is unreasonable because any real life
artillery has much higher trajectory than that small hill -- otherwise it
should be categorized as TD.
3. the splash and damage are both inferior to all tier 7 arties. for arties,
most of the time they are searching and aiming, it makes no sense to
calculate the damage per minute. the difference between 1.8 shoot / minute
and 2.31 shoot / minute is almost negligible -- only have some difference in
very special occasions -- even in some continuously shootable occasions (
need the opponents to be really noob) such as a crowd of enemies stay in
open area, T92's splash radius is more effective.
suggestions:
option 1: switch the tier setting of Obj. 212 and Obj. 261, it frustrates a
lot of players by grinding 311000 xp and downgrade their tank
option 2: make Object 261's gun comparable to other Tier 8 arties, both in
damage and in splash radius
I do not want to argue with some special minds who really love Object 261's
running speed and "accuracy". Most of them never actually played arty in
clan battles. Some of them got some exciting and lucky random game
experience. What I want to say is, if you want to be a useful arty in clan
battles, there are two things you need to know:
1. enemies are experienced players, they hide well most of the time and run
quickly through open area, you have rare chance to fire continuously
2. splash damage and high trajectory are crucial to help teammates to take
out enemies hide behind obstacles
I sincerely hope that the game developers to make some change to Object 261.
It makes no sense to design a top tier SPG so much inferior in battle
