source->perception->belief......

perception / belief / ...
I believe ... These teams feel ...
Allegations

This is pretty ludicrous, slanted reporting. Anyone can report something as
fact and make it sound convincing. Just look at the deadspin article about
Derek Jeter's "gay sexual relationship." The ESPN report fails to mention
that it is completely legal to tape from the booths, it is only illegal from
the sidelines. Filming opposing teams coaches for signals is still legal
today. When Mike Shanahan was coaching the Broncos he said himself "Our guys
keep a pair of binoculars on their signal-callers every game. With any luck
, we have their defensive signals by the end of the first quarter." It also
starts out in the setting with the 08' owners meetings and the illegal tapes
being screened there, but fails to mention that owners along with members
of the media saw the tapes. The article then proceeds to act like nobody saw
them, and Goodell orchestrated a coverup. High ranking officials from teams
the article claims were cheated out of wins have said they have no issue
with spygate and felt it gave no advantage. The only viewpoint the article
offers is one from a rogue senator on a witch hunt, while failing to
acknowledge all opposing sides specifically the NFL itself along with the
teams that are apart of it. It also basically uses good plays as evidence of
cheating. Because defenders were ready and were quick to the ball, they
cheated? That's an absolutely horrible case built of paranoia and prebuilt
subjective assertions and tales from players who said it "seemed" like the
patriots knew what was coming. Not to mention the article implies stealing
signals predicted plays with 50% accuracy at the most all the way to
completely unreliable, but then attempts to convince readers of impeccable
accuracy in Super Bowls, always knowing what was coming. It also uses the
retracted report the Patriots filmed practices and walk-throughs as evidence
. Really? They used a report retracted as false as evidence but provide no
tangible evidence as to why there was any source of legitimacy to it. The
lack of evidence is alarming in itself, but the fact that they tried to use
a report that the reporter himself retracted is even worse. The source
himself contradicted it but it was still used as legitimate point. The piece
repeatedly throws sanctions and accusations with no source other that word
of mouth that go beyond the point of believable and into deep levels of
espionage. Word of mouth is the primary source this article is built off of.
According to word of mouth Bigfoot is real, alien abductions happen all the
time. Peoples' word on experience and what they perceive is the most
unreliable source in the world. At some point you can't believe everything
any team has said. Just because a headset cut in and out doesn't mean the
patriots did it. That's paranoia which serves as no form of evidence. There
is nothing tangible about any of the claims made beyond spygate which as
Belichick once said, is filming hand signals that are in plain sight of 80,
000 in a stadium along with people watching on TV. The report is quick to
point out everything wrong without fully informing readers about what is and
isn't legal and without giving proper context to any of the accusations or
situations described.

“It's almost as if people don't realize it was never against the rules to
tape games and tape opposing sidelines. After Goodell issued a memo about it
in 2006 he insisted you could no longer tape a game from the sidelines (
which isn't how the NFL can change a rule, but I digress). Then the Jets get
caught taping endzones against the Pats, no punishment. Pats tape the Jets,
massive fines. The only team that got caught taping a practice was the
Broncos back in 2010 and their fine was much smaller.”

d********y 发帖数: 2114 | 19 Mike Shanahan: ‘Everybody’ was trying to steal signals
Speaking on “The Dan Patrick Show” Wednesday morning, former Broncos,
Raiders and Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said that when he was coaching,
every team was going to extremes when it came to trying to steal signs.
“Back then, everybody was trying to steal signals,” said Shanahan. “Some
of the best quarterbacks in the league had different cue cards from the
sideline — depending [on the] defense or blitz — and tried to do
everything they could. They looked at [videotaping] for a lot of years, and
came up with a final verdict. I could go back and tell you a hundred
different stories.”
Shanahan said NFL teams — including the ones he coaches — frequently swept
for listening devices, and not just when they were facing playing the
Patriots in Foxboro.
“We’d have people sweep the locker room for devices,” he said. “It was
with a number of teams. The same thing on the sideline.”
