draft.
He was the most physical player on the defense, and was dearly missed last
year. He could have helped stop AD and CK7 running wild over us. I though we
will get a big piece
back this year, but couldn't believe we release him. I guess his injury was
bad.
First we lost pro-bowl strong safety Nick Collin due to career ending injury
, then Bishop for season ending injure, the 2 most harding hitting players
on the defense. Packers became a "soft" team
last year, and got man-handled by physical teams.
The Packers did choose to release him after Jun 1st. Anyone remember the Jun
1st rule? His dead money can now be split into 2013 and 2014 to lower the
cap hit. Otherwise, it all hits 2013's cap.
The Vikings immediately scheduled a visit. That shows strong interest from
both sides. But remember, Bishop is not an unrestricted free agent yet, so
he
will have to go through the waiver. He is a good enough player to become
starter in a few teams, but the problem is the team will have to pick up his
current contract if they claim him off the waiver. Adding the uncertainty
of his injury on top, there is a good chance no team is willing to claim him
. If he clears the waiver, he is free to sign with any team for any amount
of money. I do hope him is claimed to an AFC team who will
treat him well, so he won't have a chance to go to the Vikings.
