Open wide! I do mean your wallet!
This is a true statement of myself. When I started to learn fly fishing in
March, I know exactly what I am getting into: open wide the wallet. Since
then I bought 4 single hand fly rods, 1 spey rod, and 1 set of blank to be
built. I also purchase 5 fly reals and 2 extra spoons to go with those fly
rods. I first use WFF line from BassPro for those reels. Fishing in the
small creeks for sandies or crappies, those lines are ok. When I took my fly
rod to Texoma for striper fishing from the bank, I just can't get my line
out to the distance I want. Of course I am still lacking the experience, my
cast skill is not there yet. I worked my butts off, and almost broke my arm
each time I tried. So I talked to RexW, watch more YouTube, and consult Rio'
s rep, taking recommendation of TFO tech rep, and decided to buy new line to
replace those on the reels. New lines came last Saturday, I put two lines
on one reel and one spare spoon: Rio Tropical series, Outbound Short, WF7F,
265 gr, and Outbound Short WF8F/I, 330 gr, for my 2 rods: TFO 8 weight BVK
and TFO 9 weight Clouser Serie. I choose Saltwater line for the reason that
I do few inshore fishing each year for flounders, reds, speckles, mangro
snappers, sheep heads, etc. naturally I will go inshore fishing with my fly
fishing gears later. So every things that I need are here, it's time for a
try out.
Last night, I set the rod up, put the spare spoon on the side, and got every
thing ready for next day fishing. I got up at 4am, grabbed my rod, my bag,
load the cool with ice, my wader, etc., etc. Got into the car, and took off.
In the hurry, I forgot 2 things: my spare spoon with WF7F line on, and my
fly box with all my small flies. Those 2 things that I forgot cost me dearly
later. Haha.
I started fishing with my spinning rod/reel on Ok side for big stripers, no
results. So I went back to the ramps at TX side after 8am. I want to try out
the little popper I made few days ago. A popper on a intermediate sinking
tip? You can see how bad it is. But I did manage to catch a sand bass with
it. Hahaha.
Popping with a sinking tip is bad! After catching that sand bass, I switched
to a clouser I tied earlier. it makes sense to use a Clouser Series rod to
cast a clouser, right?!.
The results speak for itself. After putting on the clouser, I caught this
beauty:

And I also caught this ugly thing, also my first on a fly:
Hoop up and fight:
Can you guess what fish it is?
That's a big, ugly drum. But for reason unknown, it looks so beautiful to me
today! My first on a fly:
The fishes were hitting top water today. Lots sandies were chasing small fry
close to the bank. If I had my spare spoon with WF7F line with me, I would
be able to continue to use the popper, and may catch more fish.
If I did not forget my box with all my small flies, I would be able to catch
more sandies, since they were constantly chasing small fry close the bank.
A wise man always says: match the hatch.
But I have no complain. I managed to catch 3 different species in one hour.
Not bad. Hat's off to myself! Hahaha.

刚刚开始学飞， 路还长。 不知道版上有没有朋友用spey rod? DD是我家的后花园，
哪里钓striper抛投距离很重要。 放水时鱼在离岸很远的水域。 单手竿很难抛到那
个距离。 所以不得不学用spey rod. 为此作了很多research: regular switch/spey
line, Scandi and skagit shooting head. 目前有了一点非常浅薄的认识。
今天用新线Rio Outbound Short line， 抛投距离大大提高， 50尺， 60尺很容易达到
， 增加了不少信心。 哈哈。 |

杆一寸长一寸强啊。

。飞钓距离，风是个很大的问题。

混血。现在snap t主要是单手用，也不远抛，就是怕后抛挂树的权宜之计。不过spey海
飞这个想法大师也有，不知道他玩的怎么样。

友开始学飞， 还发了一张他儿子用飞竿钓到白鲈的照片。 不学一点飞钓， 用飞竿钓
上几条鱼， 秀几张鱼照， 以后都不好意思说会钓鱼了。 哈哈。

发帖数: 71 | 34 远距离抛投，可以尝试下Switch Rod，双手over head casting。也可以spey rod，但
spey rod太重太大，线落水动静也太大，如果你体力好，目标鱼也够彪悍的话那无妨。
一般人我不告诉他，呵呵。

发帖数: 71 | 35 我今年开始用switch rod海飞，双手over head抛投普通slow intermittent line，距
离可以远很多。Spey rod 通常要比Switch Rod长不少，一般都是各种shoot，我认为不
适合亚洲人来回多次over head cast，而且很重。另外Spey rod shoot出去的线落水动
静要大一些，即便Scandi的线形也比普通线更偏shoot head。
所以如果体力好，鱼不惊的话，可以Spey各种shoot，如果想省些体力，鱼又比较敏感
的话，可以试试Switch rod来回over head cast。
或者找KV定做一根杆子：）

发帖数: 71 | 36 另外推荐一款Spey/Switch rod的轮子，瑞典设计生产，卖点是钛合金材料，重量和耐
用都秒杀各种大厂名牌，这家只限直销，省去中间环节。小号单手杆子也可以用，但这
东西对海飞抗腐蚀性和双手杆减重意义更明显。

发帖数: 71 | 37 我今年有次海飞鳟鱼把我7号单手杆弄断了，于是借了朋友一根8号10尺单手杆抛7号线
，因为杆子很重，所以尝试了一下双手抛投×（单手把重量线抛出来，最后两下cast用
双手），效果让我出乎意料，于是果断入手一根Switch，风小海面平静的时候用Switch
双手抛普通线，风大浪大抛Rio Outbound Short line。

钢头是我见过最有战斗力的，以前大师BASS的tarpon也很牛掰，但我没亲眼见过
你那里不好的是地方窄，钢头其实还没完全发挥全力
好处是人的肉眼能看见，边看边斗，太有乐趣了
老刘上次那条钢头跳起来7次，看得我目瞪口呆，换我估计早脱线了
你也很牛，别人都不上鱼的时候，你左一条右一条的，边上老美 眼红着了
我看你身板很精瘦有力，个头也高，玩SURFING没问题

我个人喜欢钓能看到的鱼,很刺激,特别是钢头,乐趣无穷,主要ＤＥＡＬ的是水凉, 特
别是１２月, １，２月.
ＦＬＹ ＴＡＲＰＯＮ是我的下一个目标. 但愿明年能完成.

。 我可能会考虑Thomas & Thomas 的switch rod. 据说非常好， 就是价钱太贵。
我的是13尺的spey rod, 还不错， 比我用的12尺的surf rod轻， 所以我不觉得重。

发帖数: 3914 | 57 switch rod介于单手竿和双手竿spey rod之间， 所以可以单手over head抛投， 也可
以spey cast. 用途多样化。 杆子越长， 越不容易掌握抛投。 玩双手竿要的就是距离
。 一般是在宽阔的水域， 大河流里用。 这种环境流水声大过shooting head落水的声
音。 不影响钓鱼。 如果是钓trout， lead/tippet都会比例长， 15'很长用的。

的mono + 1.5’ 20#的mono + 1.5' 15# 的炭素线。 striper， 白鲈这类鱼不会
leader shy. 没有必要花钱买leader/tippet. 如果是钓trout, 可以把三节的比例加长
， 最后一节用4#的炭素线。 总长9' 到 15'.
我原来没有想买9号的竿。 专家建议买竿最好跳号： 3#， 5#， 7#， 9#， 或 2， 4
， 6， 8， 10。 准备用6#， 8#， 10#竿。 在ebay上看到这根竿子， 要的是半价，
就把它扫进来了。
用飞竿钓皮皮有一个非常好的方法： popper and dropper. 你不妨试试。

算“重”的了， 5oz. 另一根TFO BVK 8# 还不到 4oz.
