伦敦音的短 i,比如 ship
在美音中,大部分都转成了schewa, shewa是ago中的第一个音节。
请问,哪些伦敦音中短i,在美音中仍保留呢?有什么规律?
谢谢!
有包子,微表谢意。

In most cases, if not all, the shewa only appears in unstressed syllables,
such as the first syllable in "ago". In a stressed closed syllable such as "
ship", you will get [I] but not the shewa.
FYI, the phonetic description of the sound [I] is "high front unrounded lax
vowel". It is different from the normal [i] in that it is lax while the
normal [i] is tense. In British English, this difference is said to be about
the length of the vowel, so [I] is said to be short while [i] is long.
BTW, the difference between [I] and [i] (and also that between the normal [u
] and the horseshoe [u]) does not exist in Mandarin, which caused a lot of
problems to Mandarin-speakers, think about shit/sheet, bitch/beach and many
other similar minimal pairs.
I'll be expecting your baozi. Thanks.
