#1 Worst Dressed City in the World: Beijing
Worst Dressed Men in the World Live in Beijing, China
When a lot of people think of the most advanced nations in the world, China
often comes to mind. In terms of industry, culture and otherwise, it’s
difficult to argue against the fact that China is truly on par with some of
the world’s most powerful nations. This is especially true of Beijing, one
of China’s most well-known bustling cities. A lot of people think that
fashion in China is very forward-thinking, but one look at the fashion and
style of men in Beijing can quickly put this notion to rest. Beijing may be
home to some seriously fashion-forward individuals, but the majority of men
who call the city home could stand to take a step back and seriously
reevaluate the way they dress. The following are just a few aspects of men’
s fashion in Beijing that are holding the city back in more ways than one -
all of them convinced us that Bejing belongs on the top spot on our Worst
Dressed Cities in the World list.
Text-Heavy Tees
It’s difficult to visit Beijing without experiencing some sort of sensory
overload. Indeed, it seems as if millions of messages are trying to be
passed around in the city at once, and it doesn’t stop at billboards and
advertisements. It’s very common for men in Beijing (especially young
adults) to embrace t-shirts that make heavy use of English text, often
incorporating cheesy slogans from American pop culture like “Take It Easy,
Man” and “Who Let The Dogs Out?” This no doubt has a lot to do with the
fact that Chinese youth tend to have somewhat of an obsession with American
pop culture, although the appearance of countless people wearing these
shirts on the same street in Beijing is nothing but embarrassing for the
city’s residents.
Excessively Bright Colors
Another aspect of Beijing fashion that keeps the city from truly making
strides in the right direction is the fact that bright colors are the
absolute norm. A sea of people walking down a busy city street can be
difficult to look at, given the fact that bright pinks, yellows and greens
tend to make up the majority of pieces worn by city residents. Bright colors
certainly have their place in men’s fashion, but wearing them with such
intensity is nothing short of a mistake. To make matters worse, many people
wear multiple bright-colored pieces, such as bright pink pants with yellow
shirts. Clashing almost always occurs in one way or another, making for an
appearance that fashion-forward men should avoid at all costs.
Absurd Accessories
Accessorizing is a great way for men to elevate their fashion to the next
level; the right belt, for example, can make all the difference in the world
. Some of the accessories found in Beijing are simply absurd, however, and
are usually worn by those who are simply trying too hard to make a statement
. Spiked collars, creepy masks/helmets and other over-the-top accessories
can all be seen on a typical street in Beijing, and typically cause heads to
turn for all the wrong reasons. After all, there’s a huge difference
between knowing how to attract attention properly and trying to look as
outlandish as possible. |

impressive
