Significance, Innovation, and Approach. This section should contain the
following information:
1. Provide background on the areas of research and key gaps in our
understanding or important challenges in genomics that will be the focus of
the proposed research program.
2. Describe the importance of this research area.
3. Describe an overall vision, conceptual framework, and general strategies
for addressing these challenges. Specific aims and a detailed experimental
plan are not expected. Preliminary data are not required, but data that
support the underlying premise of the proposed work, if available, should be
included in the application.
4. Describe how generalizable the results will be and the types of studies
that will be enabled by the work. Explain how this work advances NHGRI
priority research areas.
5. Discuss the applicant's contributions, commensurate with career stage,
to the field of genomics and to the proposed research area.
6. Describe how this work will build on the applicant's accomplishments to
advance or transform genomics research.
