投了8,9个openings大概有5个左右的phone interviews. Phone interviews 都是在投
了两周之内收到的，似乎两周之内没消息就表示没有进入long list(不知道是不是这样
。。。）。phone interview后一周内基本就收到了onsite邀请。两个感觉很差的phone
interview 没有拿到onsite机会，其他三个都拿到了onsite.
为了准备phone interview，从mitbbs和其他网站上查了很多常见的问题，列了一些在
下面，标了星号的是面试中被问到的问题。不同学校有完全不同的关注点，有的学校尤
其关心你的research，有的更关心teaching,还有的关心funding.
Briefly introduce yourself
*Summarize your current research and future research [long and short version]
*Why do you choose our program/school/university?
*What did you do during your internship
*Other professional experience
*What are your research plans for the next twofiveten years?
Why did you choose your dissertation topic?
博士论文进度
Can you briefly introduce … (something in your dissertation or research)?
What contribution does your dissertation make to the field? Is it important?
How do you think your research fill the gap in the literature?
*What do you see yourself in two years/five years/ten years?
你有与不同背景（diverse)的学生打交道的经历吗
*说一下你的mentoring style?
你认为怎么吸引学生找你做mentor?
*What teaching experience do you have?
*Have you taken XXX courses?
*Do you have grant application experience?
What do you think is the most important in teaching?
*If students cannot learn at the same pace, what are you going to do?
What is the largest challenge that you met in your class?
*What courses do you plan to teach?
onsite的面试最好要穿的正式，比如男生要穿西装打领带，如果是两天最好带两套西装
（两套领带+suits）。面试中会和系里或department里的很多老师交流，最好要多准备
些问题，他们可能没有问题问你，而是直接问你有什么问题，没有就尴尬了。。。如果
能读些他们的文献最好，但是可能比较难，可以去网上下载面试中常问的问题。有些问
题不适合这个时候问，比如薪水，配偶，等。Research presentation尤其重要,最好要
多加练习，给老板，组内同学还有不熟悉你领域的人（比如配偶：-））多讲几次，让
他们多提问，最好能讲的深入浅出。通常前10分钟要吸引大家注意力，阐明研究意义，
让不懂得人也觉得有价值，之后可以有些technical的部分，最后要用几分钟介绍未来
研究方向，加总结。但是不同学校可能有不同的期望，多问问他们的search chair可能
