1. Describe your teaching experience and the qualities or
characteristics you have that make you a successful biology
teacher. Include what courses you have taught and which you
prefer.
2. Describe one area in your teaching in which you would most
like to improve.
3. Describe how you perceive the misssion of community
colleges in the U.S. educational system.
4. Give us an example of a teaching activity (in-class or
out-of-class) that you felt was particularly effective? Why
was this such a meaningful learning experience for your
students?
5. Describe a difficult experience you've had with a student
or colleague. How was this situation resolved and did this
experience have any impact on you?
6. You are about 1/4 through the semester and it is apparent
that some students are struggling to understand the course
material. Describe how you address that issue.
7. Please describe your experience working with students with
documented disabilities and your knowledge of providing
accoodations.
8. When developing curriculum materials for general biology,
what do you think are the key elements that need to be part
of that curriculum? Include how you think laboratory should
fit into the curriculum.
9. There is a growing problem in the United States with grade
inflation. Some students receive highter marks than deserved
due to large scale curves or material at a level below that
of a college degree. How do you feel about this problem and
do you curve your classes or individual student grades?
10. Our school provides a variety of technology to support
instruction. Please describe your experience with using
technology in the classroom and laboratory.
11. In your opinion, what role does a faculty member have in
the non-teaching activities of the college?
12. Describe where you see yourself professionally in five
years.
