我这系主任也是我以前postdoc的mentor。所以当了AP后，两人之间的合作总有些割不
断的关系。今天他威胁我说，其中我任PI的一个大的grant得留下。原因是一部分原始
数据用了他的钱购买的试剂。idea当然是100％我的，也都是我做得。他给我写的grant
申请推荐信也白纸黑字写着“this is predominantly Dr. XXX's idea”.
上网查了，吓了一跳。到今天才知道原来大多数NIH和DOD的federal grant都是给单位
而不是给个人的。因此单位竟然可以要求拒绝transfer，并且换PI。现在我知道了系主
任的如意算盘，他想把这grant留下，自己当PI，或换成别的急需要grant的年轻教授。
他要是真的和学校的grant office事先打好招呼，让我不能转过去，那我可怎么办？ |

, 学校是可以留下你的grant, 然后换个PI，那么你一分钱也带不走. 我还见过NSF
Bridge grant在转校的时候被留下换了PI，不知道有没有CAREER被换PI的．．．． |

about P and U grants, then they are not individual grants. You can not move
them.
I thought R01 is to the PI. If the R01 don't move with you, it is unlike
the original institute can have it either especially if the grant only has
one PI.

program manager 支持你，可以让他给学校发封信。如果他说让学校决定，那你就得和
系主任协商了。估计你们以后还得合作，别闹翻了。即使你最后没转成，新学校也会理

我一开始也认为R01这样的grant是给PI的。所以理所当然地想：我到哪，它到哪。
但是，见NIH的官方解释
“Decisions to authorize transfer of grants are based upon the following
criteria:
1. The original grantee institution is willing to relinquish the grant;
2. The facilities and resources at the new location allow for the
successful performance of the project; and that
3. The investigator plans no significant changes in research objectives and
the direct costs do not exceed the levels previously authorized.
Please remember that grants are made to the institution rather than to the
individual PI as such the entity to whom the grant was awarded has the
discretion to determine whether or not the grant will be transferred to the
new institution or a new PI will be appointed.
