left the past few years. our decal price jumped up to $125 (when i started
it was 15) and heavy tuition increase. technically NO ONE was going to get
tenure, so.... i am surprised and appalled that she was denied tenure
considering her education background, but student that had her knew she was
the shooter before her name was released. so perhaps part of the decision
was student complains about her being unstable.

九十年代初的时候加拿大的 Concordia 也发生过这样的事情。一个前苏联的移民到学
校挣 tenure。几年下来受尽欺负了不平待遇，funding 被人抢，成果被人被人霸占，
这人忍气吞声当牛做马几年最终还是没有拿到 tenure。一怒之下带枪到学校干掉好几
个人。最终加拿大政府调查结论是学校确实有很多问题，包括挪用经费等的。但是这是
若干年之后的事情。那人得个终身监禁，现在还在某个监狱里面坚持发表论文呢。

听到今天这个新闻，我马上联想起来当年这个案子。直觉就是：冰冻三尺，非一日之寒。
总觉得象UAH这样很一般的三四流学校，tenure 总统来说应该很容易的。但是，也就是
这样的地方，tenure 更多是个政治的过程：想不让你过你再强也不过，让你过再烂也
能过。
这里也有一个 academic envy 的可能性：就是看着你哈佛来的人不顺眼；就是要整得
你死去活来让你明白到头来谁厉害。 |

hard! She has classes for extra help since there are so many students in the
