Americans are reading at school

Y*Y 发帖数: 694 | 6 I am afraid I don't have anything to recommend concerning what Americans
read in school.
Although I said that textbooks should help, I did not claim that they are
necessarily the most efficient reading materials. Each person has his/her
own style of learning.
Personally, I like reading novels, documentaries, etc., that I am interested
in. For example, if you like sci-fi, then find some English sci-fi novels.
Good luck.

Start with Bronte sisters. Their style is not too archaic for classics.
