"imminent" is usually used to describe something bad that is about
to happen, e.g., "imminent danger". I don't think it can be used
to say something good is about to happen.

time. However I feel “imminent” does not fit the style very well here.

"activities" in the original sentence.
"imminent" does mean something bad is threatening to happen very soon,
即将发生, and when it happens, it could happen without further warning,
but it could possibly be mitigated and not happen.
"impending" is close in meaning, but means some event (good or bad),
is certain to happen soon and cannot be prevented from happening, but
not necessarily with the sense of urgency.
"prospect" can also be

Maybe I am pedantic here, but I do not think that "imminent" inherently
implies bad things.
For example:

However, one rarely complains good news coming too soon.

O******e 发帖数: 734 | 18 Interesting example, and it sounds quite right.
The OED gives these definitions:
1. Of an event, etc. (almost always of evil or danger): Impending
threateningly, hanging over one's head; ready to befall or overtake one;
close at hand in its incidence; coming on shortly.
2. Remaining fixed or intent (upon something). Obs. [L. imminere in sense
"to be intent upon".]
3. In literal sense: Projecting or leaning forward; overhanging.
