"Something is 75%-complete" and "Something is 75% completed"
mean different things.
Suppose I'm drawing a map of a region showing the geological
rock type, vegetation growth, climate, or some other kind of
data. Let's also suppose that I don't have data for about
25% of the area shown on the map, so I have to leave that
part of the map blank. Drawing this map will take me four
days, therefore at the end of the third day, the "map is 75%
completed". At the
