SUMMARY OF POSITION
The focus of this role is in monitoring and improving all aspects of
Catalyst manufacturing technology –process improvements, process
optimization, equipment upgrades & modernization and technology transfer.
MAJOR ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is responsible for managing and setting direction for the
Manufacturing Technology group.
Plant Support
Accountable to prioritize, develop and implement all manufacturing
process improvements, which improve safety, efficiency, capacity, quality
and lean manufacturing initiatives.
Ensures continuous operations of existing equipment in conjunction
with the plant maintenance group.
Coordinates technical activities supporting any plant
troubleshooting events.
Ensures day-to-day technical (and related) support to plant
Operations.
Project Implementation
Accountable to provide all capital justifications & budget, and for
the execution of all equipment upgrades,new equipment, automation and other
capital projects – on time and on budget.
This position will work closely with the Operations Manager and the
Quality & EHS Manager to ensure seemless integration of any plant
modifications, such that any new operating procedures or quality control
procedures are reviewed and implemented properly.
Design and Piloting
Responsible and accountable for catalyst production technology,
investigation, evolution, and subsequent piloting as part of improvement
projects.
Responsible for ensuring the technical success for product and
process piloting runs, while minimizing the impact on on-going commercial
production, subject to scheduling constraints.
Technology Transfer
This position leads all technology transfer activities. This
includes R&D scale up requirements into the production plant and the
transfer of technology to other related manufacturing facilities and groups.
Responsible for resourcing any pre-commissioning and commissioning
requirements.
ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
Position reports to the Director of Manufacturing. Reporting to this
position are:

Process Engineer(s)
BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS
College graduate with a degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical
Engineering, or an applicable field.
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in chemical manufacturing,
preferably in catalyst or fine chemicals, or comparable experience.
Good oral and written English communication skills
