Johnson, offered some cautious
words at an investor conference today.
At about 1:25, Juniper’s shares started dropping sharply. They bounced
momentarily, but are now back near
their lows for the day, down 9.3% at $33.20.
According to CNBC, Mr. Johnson said that the company would not be immune to
cuts in federal spending. It
also said the Japanese earthquake continues to cause supply chain problems.
Seems a tad innocuous. But Juniper is down sharply from an early March high
of $44.08, and yesterday Stifel
Nicolaus, which rates Juniper a Buy, said the current quarter had gotten off
to a “slow start.”
Could be that Mr. Johnson’s body language spoke louder than his words.
Regardless, Juniper’s shares are
getting spanked. Rival Cisco is down more than 2% in a market that is
trading about 1.9% lower in the mid-
afternoon.
