I don't think CSCO will have open source for IOS or pix IOS in the near
future...
in fact, I heard CSCO CCM can interoperate with other venders...

guess.
Fundamentally I don't think there is any reason why other vendors can not
offer this functionality if they decide to do so.
Although it opens up a whole lot possibilities which are not available today
, it is going to be a nightmare for JTAC engineers, potentially they will be
trying to shoot a moving target if something is not working.
