自读书到工作遇到典型的以自我为中心的美国人也有好几个. 再加上电视媒体里见的, 归
结起来有以下几点:
1. 双重标准. 有这么一位同事要求会议换到星期三, 到了周三大家都到齐(大家费了许多
周折换日程安排), 惟独要求周三开会的人未到, 打个电话给SUPERVISOR 就算向大家道歉
了, 真他吗的FAINT. 其他的人因故耽搁了会务, COMPLAIN 个没完没了.
2. 健忘,前后不一致. 三天前说好一个CASE 转给她,问她要不要CASE NUMBER, 她说不用.
三天后开会在会上说我没有把NUMBER 告诉她, 她不接CASE.
3. 天底下只有一个STANDARD 那就是他/她的STANDARD. 有一个同事认为我不能胜任
PRICIPAL COUNSELOR 因为我不是很VERBAL, 在这种美国人眼里, 凡是话少的人都是白痴,
要象他们那样不经大脑思考就发言的才象天才.
4. 封闭无知. 去过SHANGＨＡＩ， ＢＥＩＪＩＮＧ 就以为那就是ＣＨＩＮＡ的全部，
然后问你为啥要来美国，中国那么好．．．
5. 无逻辑，前后矛盾．．．发表评论跟着感觉走．比如表态 | t****h

Even when I was in China, I would see some people bahave like what you said.
I remembered that when I was in middle school, my teacher even told my parents
I was slow because I seldom had reactions (like nodding, or other verbal and
non-verbal expressions) toward teachers' lecture.
Seems that this is an ubiquitous rule in this society. speak out=smart=sucess

nature, now they are talking about transplant FL to the top of North Dokato
to avoid Hurricane but we have to really get adjusted to the freeze up there,(
just a joke to entertain you).

their damn American Spirit "no discrimination under age, gender, race,
nationality(including language ability)". DOL strongly discourages job AD with
expecation for foreign language ability screening out local American job
seekers, neither is there any point for Americans to be picky on foreigner's
English, plus my English is damn good consider where i am coming from...they
need to open up to be influenced. How they heck | t****h

后面的including language ability是你自己加的吧, 我所见过的广告上都要求有很好的
interpersonal and communication skills
很少听到有人从where you come from来标准英语水平的,如果有也是恭维的话
不管英语好不好, 积极交流是最重要的, 包括表达出你的想法, 喜悦, 愤怒...
国内现在也是这样子的, 不说话的别人就当你白痴, 象我的一位朋友说的"你说你能力强,
跟你一个办公室的谁能力不强呢? 你不说谁知道呢?"
其实有些人际关系是不随着文化的改变而改变的, 只不过个人所处的环境变了,所以对事
物的认识也发生了变化.

nation should not hold foreigners to the same standard, had they treated me
with a big heart other than their freaking standard I would not have been so
bitchy.

"恭维" is exactly some bragging locals need as treating people from overseas.

有时侯遇到一些情况, 也觉得有些气愤, 可是自己生气是没有用的, 关键是找到解决问题
的办法, 所以我的消极的办法就是希望毕业后能去大城市移民多的地方.

发帖数: 1435 | 10 South FL is a friendly place to foreigners, 71% residents are from outside of
the U.S. unfortunately I live in a very "white" patch of this city where WASPs
crack jokes over foreigner's accent and treat sneak-across-border folks nasty
. Rural area people treat you better should you have fair skin.

had asked my boss if she feels sorry for hiring me because my langauge barrier
is a disadvantage for company, she said I need boost my self-esteem and need
to see my own strength instead of feeling less than. My state director made it
more clear that it's a pleasure to have me because I am always on top of my
paper work, I take my job seriously, I always finish job in time-frame, and
