part time 的). 现在的工作感到很boring和发展的空间不大, 对工科失去了兴趣. 感
到金融方面很有兴趣,而且工资也高. 很想再读一个金融的博士来一个职业转变.
请问我的想法实际吗? 另外,金融的Ph.D.和经济学的Ph.D.在将来职业发展前景上差别
大吗? 由于我附近的一个大学的金融系没有PH.D.,到时候可能只好选择经济学的Ph.D.

finance program only admits full-time students. |

pays a lot so interested in finance. Why don't ya get interested in
statistics?

The job market is better for Econ PhD in the sense that there are more
choices (state govt., research institutes, federal agencies, etc.). However
, the starting salary is much lower (~$60-$70K) compared to Finance (~$100K)
. Of course, you might know someone with Econ PhD making >$100K, but he/she
is an outlier. I have many friends with Econ PhDs, most working in various
agencies of State Governments.

top 20 programs. Of course, finance phds make much more and the market for
finance phds is also less competitive. But it is more difficult to get in
top finance departments than top econ departments. |

MORE competitive than econ, especially among the top 50 programs.
