Danfoss, a global market leader in HVAC/R, Water and Motion Controls has an
excellent opportunity for an experienced Electrical Engineer – Quality to
join Danfoss in Loves Park, IL.
As a member of cross-functional Market Quality Team, the Electrical Engineer
- Quality is responsible for improving performance of Variable Frequency
Drives in the field and maintaining the reputation of Danfoss as a leader in
providing high quality products. Additional responsibilities include
product enhancements.

Critical Tasks & Responsibilities
Investigate VFD operation in specific application, evaluate circuit
operations, perform root cause analysis
Change and implement designs after testing using the Engineering Change
Process.
Maintain records pertinent to each task in the form of time, sketches,
drawings, material specifications, etc.
Render/Seek technical advice and assistance from other Danfoss Development
Departments as to designs, material specifications, information sources and
testing procedures.
Keep well informed on new developments in the research and design
engineering fields through contacts with educational institutions,
professional societies and organizations, and through the use of texts,
technical papers, journals, and periodicals.
Other duties as required.
Basic Minimum Skills Required
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each
essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are
representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable

Bachelor's of Science (Master’s preferred) in Electrical Engineering.
Advanced course work in power electronics or areas is preferable.
Minimum 3 years work experience preferred in areas related to product design
and development and/or electrical engineering research or equivalent.
Ability to write/compile analysis reports which can be sent to the customer
Ability to read, write and verbally communicate in English along with the
ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and
statistical inference, and fundamentals of plans and solid geometry and
trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages,
ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide
range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with
nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.,) in its
most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and
concrete variables.
International Travel may be required from time to time (estimated 10 -15 %
per year)
Preferred Skills
Knowledge of Variable frequency drive or inverter design.
3 - 5 years work experience preferred in areas related to product design and
development and/or electrical engineering research.
Experience in using Quality Tools (e.g. DFMEA, Pareto Analysis, Cause and
Effect, etc)
Knowledge of the following: IGBT/Power semiconductors, Power topologies,
SMPS design, Analog Design/control electronics, and Magnetics/filters.
Able to contribute as a member of an organized project team of engineers.
Knowledgeable and well informed on new developments in research and
engineering fields.
Working knowledge of Computer aided engineering design tools (e.g. MatLab,
MathCad, Pspice, etc)
Strong analytical and technical skills.
Deductive reasoning (e.g. troubleshooting electrical design and determining
failure modes)
Strong personality who will be able to work with employees on all levels.
Strong interpersonal skills for both internal and external communication and
