我以前设计过一个医疗仪器用充电器，设计简单，但是UL认证就搞了半年。芯片级肯定

否则都是一句话：不可以用在人命相关的应用上。

Actually, I've no idea.
I worked for an engineering consulting company, we design stuff then sell to
third party, so usually customer tell us what regulations they need.
I designed only one simple medical instrument before. UL keeps pushing new
standard on us, (they seldom know what they require, so as to charge more),
so I changed my design a few times just to meet new specs.
BTW, UL doesn't answer any question at no charge.

I have designed a computer server like box before. Then we hired a firm to
talk to UL to get our product pass UL testing. We also pass EMC testing as
well so we can sell them now. I guess we paid about 20k get our product cer
tified by UL and EMC. It is damn expensive.
Now I am trying to design a small instrument and then sell to US market on m
y own. Not sure if I need to go thru same UL/EMC process to get certified a
nd how much I h

you can prove to the customer.
There is a trick, talk to a filter manufacturer and they might test free for
you.
