无意瞟见或版上有师兄师姐转行的给点建议。
我是去年已经博士毕业，作通信编码的。大家也知道，这年头学这个的很难找到工作。
于是作了一年IT。本想这样混下去了。可是，现在越来越觉得无法从事engineer的工作
了。一点写程序的欲望都没有。本想回老本行找工。但仔细想想，从小到大，对工科都
没有兴趣。从大学到博士到工作都勉强交差了事，换了工作情形也不会好到哪里。我不
想一辈子混下去了，想在未来一两年重新读个硕士，改变人生。
自己想了一下，希望以前的博士打的一点底子能用上。有些什么专业比较适合呢？ | c****p

学过EE的转其它和数学沾边儿的都没啥问题。。。
一个是数学底子有一些，一个是会编程，
常用的工具软件上手快。

发帖数: 34 | 4 Thanks for your input. I saw Quant job postings but I am not sure what
exactly the job is. Does it still involve programming more than 80%? Also it
seems a lot of people going to investment bank where they have to work
really hard. If I get Finacial Engineering master degree, is it possible to
find a regular job in bank and do some coding but more analysis work? | a***c

Quant jobs are mostly modeling work.

banks signed up the deal with the government to discourage foreign workers.
As a quant, you need to have a fair knowledge about finance, C++/C#
programming, math, especially probability theory. A good starting point is
the book named: option, future and other derivatives.

发帖数: 2443 | 7 Yeah, you're right. As far as the job requirements go, other than the
finance bit, a good EE MS/PhD should already possess all of those
skills.
Further more, I think it's fine to learn the finance things on the
job, since no one would expect a newbie to start a whole new project
on his first day. If one just needs to understand the basics of
trading and related tools (versus actually trying to make money on
stocks/options), he/she can probably do it very quickly.
