It is still a long long way to go. Even in technical sense, I won't say
it is a big leap.
But still, optical interconnect is the way to go. IBM, HP have already
worked on this for some time, and I heard Intel is moving toward this
direction too. The only other candidate is spintronics, which is 30 years
away.
After staying in this field for a long long time, finally I see some
hope, hehe.
