visa program that would forbid the spouses of H-1B holders to work in the
United States, reports The Wall Street Journal. The notice, released last
week by the Department of Homeland Security, did not give a reason for the
change but would overturn an Obama-era rule allowing spouses to receive the
H-4 work visa, reports CNN. The Journal also reported that the
administration is looking to reduce or kill the Optional Practical Training
(OPT) program that allows foreigners who graduate from US schools to work
for a year or two in the US after their studies. President Trump had earlier
vowed to shake up the US immigration system as part of his 'Hire American'
agenda. |
