Me: now in H1b visa with 140 approval
I want to transfer from H1b to H4. If my spouse company apply h4 for me at
the same time my spouse apply h1b, will my status change on Oct 1st 2017?
before oct 1 2017, I will stay in H1b status?
OR should I wait until my spouse got H1b in Oct 2017 and then I apply h4
after that?

发帖数: 938 | 3 1. 无论什么情况（除非换配偶：），你的H4也只能最快在10/1/2017开始，因为你LD的
H1B只能在那个时候开始。
2. 看来你LD是参加抽签，尽量用premium processing (PP)处理，这样可能比较快就拿
到了H1B approval, 然后你再申请转H4，有效期和H1B一样。
3. 似乎也可以双飞H1B,H4，PP，似乎对H4处理也有利，但是因为H1B是第一次，我觉得
不是太推荐，自己决定吧。

One question: Now I understand whenever I apply for H4, my H4 will start on
Oct 1 2017.
If we apply H1b and h4 at the same time,
Before My H4 start on 10/1/2017, will I have problem if I leave my current
Job?

发帖数: 938 | 5 You need to maintain a valid status (H1B, F2 or B2) until 10/1/2017. Your H4
will start on 10/1/2017. You need a valid status to be changed to H4 before
10/1/2017.
Basically, I woudn't suggest you to leave your H1B job if you want to
transfer from H1B to H4.
Situations that you can leave your H1B job.
1. Even after you leave that H1B job, you still can get paycheck to show
your H1B is valid. (very rarely and only happens that your H1B employer is
your best friend or parents.)
or
2. You quit your H1B job and go back to China. And then get the H4 VISA from
US Embassy in China. That's another story.
or.
3. I-140 approval already? You may check the new bill effective on 1/17/2017
for 60-day grace period and so-called drama circumstances. No 140? Don't
look at those ugly forms.

I heard that I CAN NOT transfer to F2 now because I am now in H1b visa with
140 approved.
Can I still transfer to F2 before Oct 1st the H1b starts?
