Senate negotiators are moving behind-the-scenes to build support for the
high-profile immigration bill they plan to unveil as soon as this week.
In a closed-door meeting, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio (R) plans to brief the 45
-member Senate Republican Conference on Wednesday at a lunch hosted by the
conservative Steering Committee. And in a separate lunch-time session,
Democratic Sens. Chuck Schumer (N.Y.), Bob Menendez (N.J.), Dick Durbin (D-
Ill.) and Michael Bennet (Colo.) plan to brief members of the Congressional
Hispanic Caucus about the emerging proposal. | m**a
