Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) is placing a hold on the Fairness for High-
Skilled Immigrants Act (H.R. 3012) that overwhelmingly passed through the
House Tuesday night 389-to-15. The bill would remove the per-country
limitations placed on employment-based visas. NumbersUSA took no position on
the bill since it would not change overall immigration levels.
However, Sen. Grassley, who serves as the Ranking Member of the Senate
Judiciary Committee, is concerned that the bill could have an impact on
future immigration numbers as well as the impact it could have for highly-
skilled unemployed Americans currently looking for work.
The following is the statement Sen. Grassley is providing for the
Congressional record:
"I rise to inform my colleagues that I am placing a hold on H.R. 3012, the
Fairness for High-Skilled Immigrants Act. This bill would eliminate the per-
country numerical limitations for employment and family-based immigrants. I
have concerns about the impact of this bill on future immigration flows, and
am concerned that it does nothing to better protect Americans at home who
seek high-skilled jobs during this time of record high unemployment." |

发帖数: 6764 | 13 参议院民主党是多数党，Schumer是民主党参院里的第三号大佬，他的表态基本上等于
是代表民主党的态度，而且Schumer是senate judiciary committee 的主席，他的态度
可谓是一言九鼎。
版上很多ID对3012在参议院的民运表示怀疑多半是平时不问政治的。要知道07年在当时
参议院judiciary committee chairman Arlen Spector （当时Spector是共和党）的一
路保驾下，参议院是通过了STEM法案的！（当然此法案最终被众议院扼杀了)
Grassley的hold是件麻烦事，但仍然对3012保持乐观。

all the jobs/positions that EB2 are taking need to go through PERM process,
which mean no American worker is qualified or willing to take the job.. |
