Ethnically 10 out of the 40 finalists are Indian American, and 16 are
Chinese American, but perhaps more critically: “While former H-1B visa
holders comprise less than 1 percent of the U.S. population, 60 percent of
the finalists had parents who entered the U.S. on H-1B visas, which are
generally the only practical way to hire skilled foreign nationals.” |

style of training and the kids are trained intensively to answer the same
type of questions. This is very popular in China among "magnet" school
teenagers especially those were expected to compete in the "International
olympic" competitions such as Maths, Physics, Chemistry, etc. Sort of the
same way that Chinese college students prepare GRE and TOEFL through
Xindongfang. American students don't go through such intensive and
purposeful trainings, so normally their scores in such tests are not as high
as Chinese and Indian peers.

cheating" while some others disagreed
No matter what kind of scientific competition it is, normally it's not
surprising that Chinese kids could stand out with hard work as well as
concentrating on the particular type of questions the competition/exams
normally ask

for manipulation (parents, mentor etc). exams are actually more fair. you
guys interpreted too much.
