I am sorry that this has caused confusion. It was certainly not our
intent. Microsoft is very committed to Silverlight – we are building
products using it ourselves (for example, the new Azure portal that we
demoed at the PDC is written in Silverlight, Windows InTune is
Silverlight, and our new Lync client uses Silverlight).
Of course, Silverlight is also the developer platform for the Windows
Phone.
We will work to clarify our message over the next few days.
Again, I am sorry that we were not clear in the way this was
communicated.

a complex web application.
This is not just about the techniques of web application development. It is
the way of Microsoft to confuse the development community. They are killing
Silverlight when the development framework of html5 is still far away. The
situation is pretty similar to killing web form by so-called mvc if you know
how suck the mvc1.0 is.

Except that Java's founding father was fired by Oracle. Talking about 折腾.
Don't worry about SilverLight, nothing beats C#/.Net when it comes to a
powerful web app platform. HTML5/JS will continue to be a laughing stock
wannabe in years to come, or Google would have written their MobileOS in
H5/JS already instead of Java/Android.

of my sql. It was because of politics, no surprise.
What happened in Microsoft is pretty interesting. The people of Microsoft
are killing their own techniques. Do they know how hard to make one piece of
js code to work properly on all browsers from different vendors or
different versions from the same vendor? Did they really understand why asp
.net web form was accepted by developers quickly eight years ago or
Silverlight got major supports from the development community in just three
years?
There is only video part of my project using Silverlight. I convinced the
company to select Silverlight to implement the video part. I am also
planning to move part of web form projects to Silverlight in next couple of
months. Now, people think I am an idiot.
The damage is so deep whatever Microsoft is claiming. MS is eliminating the
diversity of web development by killing its own technology.
