离开故土，我们旅居海外，游子们怀着亲友的祝福于此暂住。然而，他，却只能永远留
在这片陌生的土地。弗吉尼亚大学化学系访问学者冷丰收博士，在2014年8月10日凌晨4
时许突发心脏病送医急诊，因抢救无效于当日6时许永远离开了我们。
冷丰收博士来自中国吉林省延边大学，他的夫人是一名普通的中学教师，女儿年少体弱
且患有先天听觉障碍。冷老师的突然离世有如晴天霹雳，在她们心里刻上了一道难以磨
灭的伤痕，同时也给这个并不富裕的普通家庭带来了无法承受的灾难。他的夫人失去了
相濡以沫举案齐眉的伴侣，他的女儿失去了沉稳如山慈爱有加的父亲，延边大学失去了
一位刻苦钻研兢兢业业的老师，我们永远失去了一位真诚的朋友。
逝者已矣，生者如斯。如今这对母女背负着沉重的经济负担，女儿日后庞大的教育开支
更是雪上加霜。我们，弗吉尼亚大学的学生、访问学者以及冷老师的亲友，在此呼吁所
有爱心人士，请您伸出援手，帮助冷老师的家人度过这人生中最大的难关，鼓励她们勇
敢坚强地走下去，以力所能及的温暖拯救一个原本幸福美满此刻却的家庭。

Dr. Fengshou Leng, a visiting scholar in the department of chemistry at
University of Virginia, suffered from an apparent heart attack during a
recent trip to Miami with his wife and a 12-year-old daughter and passed
away in the morning of Aug 10th. Fengshou was an associate professor in the
department of chemistry at Yanbian University in China. He joined the UVa
chemistry since this April for a one-year visiting program.
Fengshou was a loving father, a devoted husband, a great friend and an
excellent chemist. His sudden death shocked all of us who knew him and has
brought tremendous sadness and pain to his family. His wife is a high
school teacher earning $800 a month in China, and his 12-year-old daughter
has been suffering from congenital hearing and speaking impairments. In
addition to the unbearable loss of Fengshou, his family is now confronting
with huge financial burdens including the immediate medical, funeral and
travel expenses, and the future education and medical costs for his daughter.
As the colleagues and friends of Fengshou, we appeal to all who are willing
to help the family through the most difficult time to make a donation to his
wife and daughter who are now temporarily living in Charlottesville.
