As part of our daily practice in neuropsychology, we generate a large amount
of patient data that needs to be captured, organized, and stored in an
easily accessible way. The data would initially be used for clinical
purposes but as the amount of information increases we plan to submit
archival study proposals to the IRB.
The most important background is the ability to build or learn to build a
database.

The most basic database would simply house the data, allow for easy entry
and query, and be easily exported to statistical or word processing software
. The database would exist in one location and would have a single user
entering data at any given time. The data are all either numbers or rarely
short text responses. Some patients return for follow-up evaluations. We
would also need to de-identify all patients throughout the database.

considered as important. most likely it needs a bigger table with 50+
variables and few reference tables. data masking strategy might apply for
confidential data protection.
However, it is good for starter, especially for students to practice. Since
it is a real application and meaningful for clinical records and further
statistical data analysis, it will be a shining point in your resume.
