reverse" in quickstep.
The syllabus book and our coach teaches it as SQQS
But the pro lady I took private from last weekend wanted us to dance as SSQQ
. At first I thought she might be wrong, but as I was watching Pino's
earlier teaching vids, I found they danced it as SSQQ too.
Any clue who is right who is wrong?

reverse' is also SSQQ.
Btw, the syllabus book I am using is 10th edition,
reprinted with amendements in 1994.
So confused right now.

step would be Heel Toe, versus if he dances SQQS, the second step would be a
toe.
Am I right?

timings, as so called musicality.
But for syllabus competitors, is it better for them to stick to the syllabus
timing?

Waltz fallaway revere slip pivot listed two optional timings: 123&, or 1,2&3
Foxtrot fallaway reverse listed several optional timings:
SQQS,SQQ&,SQ&Q,S&QQ,QQQQ
But there is no variation in timings as for waltz chasse or quick open
reverse. As far as I know, the majority of syllabus dancers still dance
chasse as 12&3. Then is SSQQ for quick open reverse allowed in closed
syllabus? Sorry for being such a bookworm. :P

they must have good reasons to write syllabus timing that way.
but 12&3 for chasse and fallaway reverse never work for me.
my team coach asks everyone from bronze to gold to dance
123& for chasse.

that's why 6 quick runs can't be danced after quick open reverse
if you check quick open reverse's following figure list
6 quick run is probably not there.

The foot work for that step is toe heel. timing is slow.

six quick run malgamation, no matter how fast we run, it's still very
difficult to do. Even at that time. we did the SQQS timing for the quick
open reverse.
Your explanation just enlightened me, that we should add a reverse pivot
after quick open reverse to follow into six quick run.
But anyway, we already changed it to four quick run and it worked quite good.

best syllabus amalgamation you could do with 6 quick run:
hover corte
6 quick run
it has speed contrast. after a slow, shapy hover corte,
with a semi-hop slow then 6 quick running steps. it
can look like open steps, very dynamic.
