in general since last sept (there was some slacking time around dec and jan,
though). my body is more flexible; my understanding of dancing is better;
my balance is improved.
right now i am learning the bronze, silver, gold figures for 5 dances,
following the video series "dancing basics with passion" by slavik and
karyna - yes, that is my textbook. I have finished chacha (3 levels) and
moved to samba; next week i am go

Do you still have private lessons regularly?
BTW, where did you buy your "textbook"? Do you think self-teaching is an

me following the 'textbook'. but before the class, i would preview the
figures and learn the steps myself; so in the class i can focus on learning
the technique to do the figures better. (check your mail regarding the
textbook question).

I also like to follow the dance video and get my move corrected by my dance
instructor. Following the video is much easier to help me to visualize the
movement, then try to imitate the move. Can I imitate it correctly? It will
be up to my instructor. I found this is an effective way to improve.
I resumed my dance instruction recently and plan to compete soon. I am
really excited about dance competition.
