little riding over the winter.
In short, my friend and I started out about 7 minutes late and I crashed
with 15 miles to go. We made a good effort to chase the field in the
beginning although in our mind we knew it was not going to happen. We were
caught up by the lead group of the next cat 4 field which started about 3
minutes behind us at mile 15. I was able to jump on the train and stayed
with this lead group for about 10 miles before they dropped me on a long
steep section of this race (before Joe Bean Rd. see below). I actually felt pretty strong staying with this
lead group of about 30 riders until this steep section. I tried my best to
stay with them but eventually had to watch them slowly ride away towards the
top of the climb. I guess I burned myself on this climb although it did not
manifest itself until mile 35 when I quietly hit my wall. The extra chasing
effort in the beginning and the climb trying to stay with the lead group
took its toll now.
The crash happened at a 90 degree turn where dirt meets the road. I guess I
was tired and did not focus enough to remind myself dirt surface is more
slippery. I just turned as if it was a regular road. I am glad it were only
some road rashes. And, I can still go to Tuckerman Raven next weekend for
backcountry skiing, woo hoo!

you have a good ride and didn't get hurt too much. The best part for us is
to enjoy it and ride safe!

to see you survived. I guess safety must be the highest-priority thing
especially in early season. You didn't hurt yourself too much, that's a
good accomplishment.
One lesson I got from race is not pushing too much at the beginning of the
race, even though mentally people always tend to hammer themselves when they are full of energy. If you got dropped from the group, let them go,
and try to stick with the later group. Changing your position in the group
may also be helpful to relax. |

发帖数: 3290 | 7 That's certainly true. In retrospect, I should not have pushed too hard on
the long and steep climb trying to stay with the group and should have taken
a moment to recover myself after I got dropped. But, it is a good test.
There is always next time.
they are full of energy. If you got dropped from the group, let them go,
