真的很震撼。
听着耳机里断断续续的讲解，让我更加对vanderbilt家族的兴衰感到好奇
这个家族必定鼎盛一时，所以才能够挥金如土，修建这么多summer "cottage"
但追踪没落，使得他们无法持续拥有这些豪宅而选择赠送给preservation society。

们的这些大house其实是建给他们的管家和仆人的，他们自己在里面每年只住一两个月
而已，并且这些房屋的主人大都寿命不长，很怀疑是否跟所用石料有关，毕竟这些大理
石等都有较强的放射性。
比如The ELMs 的主人Berwinds自己没有子嗣，最后将房子留给了自己的妹妹。

1895年建好，1899年去世，仅55岁）。

仆人们虽然很多，但他们要做到invisible
比如洗完衣服，放回主任房间衣柜，要做到像变魔术一样，主任根本注意不到仆人做事
她们都是趁主人出去时候，而且都走的狭长的小通道。
主任小孩们的一天：

中午会叫
下午去骑马。。。
每天都换4,5套衣服
浴缸里还可以流出海水
